Basic overview of abdominal ultrasound including physics, scan techniques, color Doppler and normal abdominal sonographic anatomy. Emphasis will be the normal anatomy of the abdomen and unique isomorphic appearances of the abdominal organs. Emphasis will also be placed on the use of normal abdominal vessels to aid in identifying normal structures and their expected anatomic location.
Overview of scanning techniques including Doppler and color flow imaging and commonly encountered abdominal abnormalities. Acquire experience in performing studies with the patients in lateral and dorsal recumbency.
